About
This story provides a summary and insights from a session I facilitated. The session begins with an interview to gather background information and I guide participants to enter a deeply relaxed and focused meditative state. During this time, we explore relevant past, parallel, and future lives, as well as connect with spirit guides when appropriate. As participants describe their experiences, I guide them through the process. I utilize Midjourney to generate visuals that embody the essence of the key moments.

Exploring Ancestral Roots and Seeking Guidance on Codependency

Kyle, a dancer in his early 30s, proudly identifies as gay. He has a profound sense of empathy and a vibrant artistic spirit. Raised in a spiritually rich hippie environment, he was exposed to various spiritual beliefs from a young age.

Family means the world to him, and he often steps into the role of a caregiver and supporter. However, his empathetic nature sometimes leads to codependent relationships and a tendency to overextend himself with people around him. He is currently exploring ways to balance his caring personality with prioritizing his own needs.

With challenges in expressing his needs, finding clarity in his career direction and navigating relationships, he participated in sessions to seek guidance with many questions. As a mixed-race individual, he is also interested in connecting with the gifts of his ancestors, particularly from his father's Polynesian heritage through this session.

Intentions for the Session

  • How can I connect to my ancestors and utilize ancestral gifts and wisdom?

  • What direction should I pursue in my career?

  • How can I effectively communicate my needs and desires?

Notes: Clients prepare these intentions and questions before their sessions. These intentions are crucial because they can determine which life the clients will explore.

Life as Wave, an Adventurous Woman Healer in the Tribe

In his past life, Kyle finds himself as 14-year-old young woman, barefoot and dressed in a tan canvas skirt, adorned with bead necklaces crafted from dried berries. With long, jet-black hair and rich brown skin, she stands amidst tall grass, inhaling the salty scent of the nearby ocean. She experiences a blend of both feminine and masculine energies within her. Her home consists of huts constructed from trees and leaves. The huts are triangular, while one larger hut features a circular design topped with a straw roof. Her name is Wave and she has an adventurous spirit in her.

She lives with a wise and strong 86-year-old woman who teaches her the healing properties of plant medicine. Wave feels like her apprentice. “I create salves, poultices, and medicines. I've picked up the skill of resetting bones and become quite the hunter, which has helped me understand anatomy better. Now, she's reminding me to be cautious with these abilities, as they can also cause harm in the wrong hand.”

This old woman is a village elder, acting like a grandmother to everyone. Her wardrobe is filled with vibrant caftans made from a single piece of fabric. Her hair is white and neatly pulled back, adorned with shells, wood, and various treasures she’s collected from nature, all beautifully braided.

“I create salves, poultices, and medicines. I've picked up the skill of resetting bones and become quite the hunter, which has helped me understand anatomy better. Now, she's reminding me to be cautious with these abilities, as they can also cause harm in the wrong hand.”

Wave lost her parents in the war. Although she misses them deeply, she understands that this community sees death as not something to fear; it's seen as a part of life that continues. The sorrow is expressed through grieving rituals, like cremation for the sick, and vibrant dances accompanied by drums for those who have passed away.

Sunhee: That sounds beautiful. Can you tell me more about that ritual?

Kyle: It's usually a communication thing done to the moon. It's a time when we practice grieving and hold space for the sorrow the anger, and the loss, as well as sharing a big meal before the party begins. There are drums and dances involved.

Sunhee: Can you describe this dancing style?

Kyle: There are several different dances they do. Some are soft. Some seem to look like hula. And others are more ecstatic, where they bring paint and we paint our bodies and the drums get harder and you move and you stomp and you jump and shout.

Sunhee: Is dancing something that is only meaningful at funerals, or are there other occasions when dance takes place?

Kyle: It exists in funerals. It exists for births. It exists for solstices that follow the moon. They exist when they try to call more rain or there's a drought. And they exist for unions or partnerships. Dance helped me tap into being able to grieve and not be sorrowful and carry their passing with me as a negative thing.

" There are several different dances they do.
Some are soft. Some seem to look like hula. And others are more ecstatic, where they bring paint and we paint our bodies and the drums get harder and you move and you stomp and you jump and shout."

Wave is an adventurous woman, eager to discover the world around her. The old lady understands her longing for exploration but worries about her safety, as she feels a protective instinct towards her. Kyle jumped to the scene of a different life from here.

Life As Steve, a Bitter Artist Grappling With His Hidden Sexuality

In another past life, Kyle finds himself as a man named Steve, who is in his 40s and lives in a city reminiscent of Berlin or New York around 1880. The environment is filled with concrete structures and a palette of gray tones. By the age of 20, Steve's hair has already turned completely white.

Steve appears confident outwardly, but he struggles with deep insecurities rooted in feelings of rejection. He seeks validation and affirmation from those around him, while he internally wrestles with anxiety about his sexual orientation, uncertain if he is gay and still hiding it.

Steve is characterized as an angry artist with strong opinions. He is known for being the life of the party and a captivating conversationalist. However, he struggles to fully embrace his creative gifts, feeling a love-hate relationship with his art. Unfortunately, his work is not selling well, largely due to the turbulent state of the world.

This life feels unfulfilled due to his insecurities and his relentless quest for external validation, as he has always relied on others for affirmation. His relationships remained unsteady and unfulfilled as well.

Life As Triver, a Man Who Led a Fulfilled Life in a Forest Community

Kyle is now a boy somewhere deep in the rainforest, between six and seven. His name is Triver. He finds joy in the simple pleasures of climbing trees. With tanned skin and a sense of adventure, he enjoys the space away from other kids, wearing just a basic shirt and shorts. The location feels like Brazil. His home is a large red structure in the forest, with wooden posts supporting the roof and square windows. A staircase with four steps leads up to it. He lives with a big family—three families under one roof, which is typical in this spread-out forest community.

He is happy in this large family with loving parents. The boy bathes in a river under a waterfall, preparing for a coming-of-age ritual. The women sing as they weave, passing down songs through generations, while the men hum deeper tunes as they wash and apply paints. The community accepts death, believing in reincarnation.

The boy grows up, marries a woman, and they have four children. His wife's third pregnancy ended in a difficult miscarriage, but they supported each other through it.

As he ages, he becomes blind and weak, surrounded by family as he nears the end of his life. He reflects on his life, grateful for the skills and growth he experienced, unafraid of dying due to his belief in reincarnation. He learned to accept accidents and live in a community and embraced failure as a path to better care for the community. As he passes, his family lays their hands on him, and he feels at peace with no regrets.

Journey to the Spiritual Realm and Meeting Spirit Guides

As Kyle transitions from this man’s body to the place of the afterlife, he describes his experience.

Kyle: As I float above my body, I feel it continue to live this thing. I can't see myself anymore because I feel like I'm dissolving. Feels like evaporation. Yeah, also a deep groundedness. By no longer being a part of the body, I feel infinitely expansive, as well as having no form at all.

Sunhee: Beautiful. And where do you go from here?

"As I float above my body, I feel it continue to live this thing. I can't see myself anymore because I feel like I'm dissolving. Feels like evaporation. Yeah, also a deep groundedness."

Kyle: It's an interesting thing to be able to experience multiple planes at the same time. The dew and the sunrise on one half of the planet, sunset on the other. You can feel the river that ran through this Brazilian area into the ocean and the clouds circling the Earth. You can experience everything all at once. Like the wind under a bird's wings or a rock on the edge of a cliff. Or the tears of somebody mourning something. Or the blood from some sort of violent act.

Kyle: I feel a gravitational pull in a direction. It takes me to a place in light of where stars are born. Very nebulous. I’m engulfed in this gaseous pink, blue, and purple light. It kind of just floats through space as it continues to have motion in itself, as asteroids sometimes pass through. Bits and pieces of this nebulous form and condense to make other things. Yeah. The swirl of it. I feel very at peace. Multitude of emotions all at the same time. Between happiness, and sorrow. It's like looking at something bittersweet, but also complete euphoria.

"It takes me to a place in light of where stars are born.
Very nebulous. I’m engulfed in this gaseous pink, blue, and purple light. It kind of just floats through space as it continues to have motion in itself, as asteroids sometimes pass through.."

Sunhee: There is a special being is there, waiting to deliver a message to you. Who do you see?
Kyle: I see these beings. They're not as clear as usual. It's more kind of like an alien where they don't have a clear humanoid form, just a silhouette. I see four silhouettes that I can't recognize. They're a combination of my ancestors. And I see these past lives that we visited.

Sunhee: Are you viewing everything at once? How do you perceive them? In what way is it presented?

Kyle: It's kind of in like an all-white space where they're standing. The male and female are standing. One of the children is sitting. And then the four other figures, very similar silhouettes. Yeah, we're all from where I'm viewing. It's like they're in a circle.

Sunhee: Who else are you seeing?

Kyle: This is my friend Josh. Ah, Josh is a buddy of mine in this life. He’s expressing how nice it is to see you. He has a few more people he’d like me to introduce to. He is telling me that I already possess everything I need to move forward. So, go out there and seek what you’re after, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything.

Guidance from Higher Self

The phrases "higher self," "subconscious mind," and "intuition" describe akin ideas, albeit under different labels. They represent the part of us that contains innate wisdom. Through engaging in conversation and posing questions that clients have prepared for themselves, they are able to access and respond from the profound wisdom within them while in this trance state.

Sunhee: Why were these lives selected for him to witness?

Kyle as higher self: He needed to see and learn from Wave’s life. To embrace that side of himself that she has carried to him. The skills of healing. That they exist. The word of caution that not to abuse the gifts. And that he will find a mentor just like that old lady even if he doesn't know them yet.

Steve's life was shown to him that he's been through it before as a struggling artist. That he doesn't need to use that narrative as a crutch. And to show him the dangers of using it as a crutch. Because he can create his reality. Steve was a life he lived to make a lot of mistakes. Triver's life was to show him his ancestral history.

Sunhee: What kind of ancestral wisdom or strength can he gain from these experiences?

Kyle as higher self: He's currently working on the skills he's uncovering. He set this in motion by pursuing his college education and earning his degree, which has made it easy for him to get caught up in the norms of a capitalist society. These experiences have motivated him to keep practicing and to have faith in the path he's chosen.

Sunhee: How does he reach out to his ancestors to gain their wisdom?

Kyle as higher self:: We’ve always had a strong bond. Ancestors feel fulfilled in their roles. Whenever something goes well, it brings them joy because it reflects Kyle’s attentiveness to their guidance. Kyle consistently tunes in to what his ancestors have to say. I showed him Steve because Steve did not.

Sunhee: Could you offer him some guidance regarding the path he's taking in his career?

Kyle as higher self:: It's hard to give him specific advice since he'll ultimately make his own choices. However, I encourage him to trust his instincts, keep exploring his resources, and seek guidance when needed. Support is all around him—whether from friends, family, or even his ancestors.

Sunhee: Does Kyle feel any doubts or insecurities regarding teaching, choreographing, or taking on various roles?

Kyle as higher self: Insecurities often stem from learned imposter syndrome. He needs to avoid engaging in patriarchal or oppressive behaviors. Instead, these insecurities can foster curiosity and openness. Therefore, having a bit of insecurity can be beneficial. For now, it may linger for a while, but it won't last forever. He will eventually recognize when it's time to move on.

Sunhee: How would you advise Kyle on establishing boundaries with his family?

Kyle as higher self: He is doing a great job carving out some personal space. It’s already in motion. When he feels anxious about disappointing his family, it highlights some of his insecurities. By releasing that concern, he can shift his focus back to himself.

Sunhee: How should he handle feedback or criticism from others? What different approach can he take?

Kyle as higher self: Don’t take things too personally. Next time, try to pause and take a deep breath. You could even use a rubber band to snap as a way to jolt yourself back to reality.

Sunhee: What is his purpose in this lifetime?

Kyle as higher self: To heal, to hold, to witness, and to usher in the next generations to share. Practice a soft pride and fullness. He can express pride by recognizing and appreciating those around him. Pride doesn't solely stem from his achievements; it can also celebrate the successes of others.

"To heal, to hold, to witness, and to usher
in the next generations to share."

“I realize that we have to be both male and female many, many times. We have to be balanced, thus we cannot keep coming back to learn our lessons as the same sex. We have to know what it is like to experience both viewpoints.”
